CYCLISTS TAKE TO ROADS OF DONEGAL ON JOURNEY OF RESPECT AND EDUCATION

first_imgSome of the cyclists which took to Donegal’s roads this morning to highlight respect and awareness between cyclists and motorists.Dozens of cyclists took to the roads around Letterkenny and beyond this morning on a journey of hope and awareness.The cyclists of all ages left the Aura Centre in a bid to highlight respect between motorists and bike-users on Donegal’s roads.It follows a recent accident in Kilmacrennan when four cyclists were injured after a collision with a car. A number of the cyclists injured in that collision, including Denis Shiels, were at today’s cycle.The cycle coincides with a road safety launch asking people to ‘share the road.’A number of speakers including endurance athletes Sean McFadden and Jason Black, spoke of the need for respect on Donegal’s roads.Mr Black recently contacted Donegal Daily in a bid to highlight his own personal concerns saying he had a genuine belief that a cyclist will be killed on our roads if greater tolerance and respect is not shown by both motorists and cyclists on Donegal’s roads.
