Community choice aggregation efforts for power supplies gaining steam in the U.S.

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享Utility Dive:A renewed national expansion of community choice aggregation (CCA) is raising ambitions for transforming the U.S. power system. On the heels of an explosion of customer choice in California over the last three years, the slowly growing aggregation market in Massachusetts is accelerating. In New York, a new version of aggregation is emerging. Customers in traditional markets like Illinois and Ohio are looking for new services from their aggregators. And national CCA organizations want to bring the choice to more states.CCAs led by municipal governments were created to leverage the buying power of large groups of electricity users to get lower electricity prices and meet other customer demands. In deregulated power market states, the newest aggregations are demanding the power sector meet grassroots customer demand for renewable, distributed and — increasingly — local generation. “Customers want more choice and more ways to green the grid, and aggregations offer both,” Shawn Marshall, executive director of national aggregation advocacy group LEAN Energy, told Utility Dive. “Overturning the status quo is not easy, but we are seeing a lot of interest.”In states with legislation that enables aggregation, momentum is growing. Aggregation’s popularity is softening utility resistance. Renewables developers’ initial concerns about its creditworthiness are transmuting into commitments to make deals happen. One conflict aggregation still must face is the gap between the power system’s reliance on bulk and diversified generation and the dream of a power system comprised entirely of local resources.More: As CCAs take over utility customers, local generation emerges as the next big growth driver Community choice aggregation efforts for power supplies gaining steam in the U.S.last_img read more

NBA free agency rumors: Kings ‘prioritizing’ signing a center Knicks free agency rumors: New York betting favorite to sign Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving Morris is also “open minded” about potentially returning to the Celtics, the report says.Morris averaged 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 37.5% from 3-point range last season for Boston. He was traded from the Pistons to the Celtics in July 2017. Related News “Obviously I love being here in Boston,” Morris said last month, via MassLive.com. “I’ve enjoyed it a lot and hopefully I stay here. It’s a great organization, nothing but great for me being able to play on that stage. I’ve enjoyed my time.”The Celtics entered the season as the favorites to win the East. But, they finished with a 49-33 record and fell to the Bucks in five games in the conference semifinals.“I felt as though we owed Boston to be better,” Morris said. “They stayed with us through this tough year, and I just felt like we owed them to be better. MBU seek face-saving win

first_imgWestern Bureau:Montego Bay United (MBU) will have it all to do as they seek to overturn a 3-0 deficit in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League return match against DC United this evening at the Montego Bay Sports Complex. Kick off is at 7:30.Their first meeting in Washington was difficult for the local boys who had zero competitive matches under their belts and with a new coach Tim Hankinson giving them orders from the sidelines.Hankinson noted that this evening’s match will be different in that respect.”We feel a lot better about our chances against them than when we first played them recently for sure,” said Hankinson.”When we first met them about a month ago, we had just about two weeks of work and about no practice match under our belts and now we are fully into our local leagues, about five games into that and are match-ready and confident,” Hankinson added.MBU are currently sixth in the Red Stripe Premier League standings, after two matches, where they won one and lost the other.Their chances of moving beyond the group stage are almost nil, but that will not stop them giving their all to defeat their opponent in tonight’s game.MBU lost their first Champions League matches, 3-0 away at Panamanian club Arabe Unido on August 5, then travelled to the US capital where they were soundly thrashed in an identical 3-0 loss to DC United on August 25 to be without a point at this stage. They, however, can save face and could possibly end on six points if they defeat DC tonight and accomplish the same against Arabe Unido on October 22, also at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.DC United, meanwhile, are surging ahead and are certain of the next round, which means, according to assistant coach Chad Ashton, a win against MBU would give them top seeding in the next round.”We know it’s going to be tough beating them on their home field and where they are expected to play with lots of confidence, but we are okay. We have a good squad and we are looking to a good game,” stated Ashton. The US side have maximum nine points from three matches, having done the double over Arabe Unido 1-0 in Panama City and 2-0 playing at home, both matches after they had thrashed MBU in DC.last_img read more
